Hill forest
Rema kalenga: It is a nice
combination of various kinds of plants, animals and birds life. You can
get one of the best experiences of bird watching here. Rema kalenga
sanctuary is 1795 hectares, located within larger 6232 hectares Tarap
hill reserved forest. 167 species of bird's inhabitants here. Primates
included capped languer, slow Loris, monkeys, fishing cat, wild boar and
deer are in this forest. Identified species includes 20 mammals, 3
amphibians,
6 reptiles and 606 plants are in this forest. The mammals include the
hoolock Gibbon, capped langur, phayre's langur, slow loris, monkeys,
fishing cat, barking deer and mongoose. This forest is under Hobigonj
district, approximately 130 Km north-east of Dhaka.
Lawachara : Lawachara forest is easy accessible forest for its road facilities. There are marked hiking trails of Н hour, 1 hour, and 3 hours. The 20 mammal species include 6 primates, 246 birds, 4 amphibians, 6 reptiles. In Bangladesh Largest group of Hoolock Gibbon are in this forest. Notable species included capped langur, slow loris, pig-tailed macaque, orange-bellied Himalayan squirrel, barking deer and masked civer. More then 20 species of wild orchids are in this forest. Lawachara is 1250 hectare, is located within the largest 2740 hectares West Bhanugachi reserved forest. It is 8 Km east from Srimongal town under Moulovi bazaar district.
Pablakhali Wildlife sanctuaryPablakhali Wildlife sanctuary's main attraction is elephant. These are smaller than African elephant. Other mammals are Rhesus macaque, capped langur, hoolock Gibbon, Dhole, small cats, otters, wild boar and sambar. There are also numerous birds' species here. It was declared as wild life sanctuary in 1983.Total area is 42,087 Hectares, under kassalong, 112 Km from Rangamati town. It is the finest hill forest remaining in Bangladesh and a wonderful wetland site also.
Sita-Kundo Eco-Park: 1998 a part of the Chandranath reserved forest was declared as the Sita-Kundo Eco Park. It is near of the Bay of Bengal, where you will get natural beauty as well as cultural and religious significance. This is a panorama of sea and hill. Renowned Chandranath temple is very near of this park. There is a water fall also. Dhaka-Chittagong highway is western side of this park and Chittagong town is 37 Km from here.
Banshkhali Eco-park: The Park began in 2003 under a Government project. It is 1200 hectares, bordering the western edge of the Chunati wildlife sanctuary. This was a tropical semi-evergreen forest, now it is a habitat dominated by sun grass and other plantation species. Tourist can take boat trips in an artificial lake, hike along well established trails or climb to the top of one of two viewing towers. The eco-park is under Banshkali upazilla of Chittagong district, 60 KM from city.
Satchori National park : It is a remnant of the tropical evergreen and semi-evergreen forest that once covered the sylhet division. Including Hoolock Gibbon, Phayre's langur, fishing cat, wild boar and barking deer, there are 24 mammals, 149 birds, 6 amphibians, 18 reptiles here. Oriental pied Hornbill, red jungle fowl, red headed trogon and pygmy woodpecker can be watched by Bird lovers. Tripura tribes are inhabitants in this area. The forest is under Chunaru ghat upazila of Hobigonj district. It is 130 KM north-east of Dhaka.
Kaptai national Park : The semi-ever green forest comprises very high hills, springs, canals and river. It is nearby the beautiful kaptai lake. Asian elephant, Deer, fishing cat and various monkeys are the wildlife of this range. The range is totally 5464 hectares. By road Kaptai is 64 KM from Chittagong city. This journey is a nice experience also.
Chunati Wildlife sanctuary:It is 7,764 hectares, under Chunati of Chittagong district and on the way of Cox's bazaar highway. South of the forest is still roaming area of Asian elephant. This area is unbroken natural vistas of hills and grasslands. Wild boar, Rhesus macaque, barking deer included with19 mammals, 53 birds, 4 amphibians and 7 reptiles in this forest.
